Israel rebuked for deal criticism; KMPG to face parliament; Herald journalists celebrated at awards night

Former US president Barack Obama, joined by three former presidents, celebrated the opening of his presidential museum in Chicago with an extraordinary event that brought together politicians, A-list celebrities, athletes and other international notables.

Bono, John Legend, Christina Aguilera, Marc Anthony and Eddie Vedder took turns on stage in front of Bruce Springsteen and Stevie Wonder.

“I hope this center serves as an affirmation of how special, how valuable our democracy truly is, and reminds us of what we can accomplish when we embrace our shared responsibilities as citizens,” Obama said in his speech to the crowd.

President Donald Trump was notable both for his physical absence and for not being mentioned by any speakers or artists. Trump called the $850 million center a “total disaster” in a social media post in February.
