Cheryl Hines says she lost friends over her marriage to RFK Jr. and politics

Actress Cheryl Hines met with Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. on Tuesday. and admitted that she had lost friends because of her marriage to politics.
“I would say yes,” Hines said.Katie Miller Podcast” “I have some friends who are so emotional about politics that even the fact that I’m married to Bobby is too much for them. Even being friends with me is emotionally overwhelming. They can’t be comfortable around me.”
The “Curb Your Enthusiasm” star was also asked if her husband’s politics led to him losing roles. Hines replied, “Probably,” but added that some people in Hollywood continue to support him.

“There are people who think they can’t separate the fact that I’m married to Bobby,” Hines said. “I also have people in the entertainment industry who come up to me and say, ‘I really want to work with you.’ It’s a double-edged sword.”
Although Hines did not name anyone specifically, comedian Tig Notaro announced on the “Breaking Bread With Tom Papa” podcast earlier this month that she ended her friendship with Hines due to Kennedy’s political views.

“Cheryl is married to Bobby Kennedy Jr.. When she announced her run, I felt like I had to step away, because there are beliefs that were like a mosquito on the arm years ago and have become even more of a spotlight,” Notaro said.

This was despite Notaro and Hines having previously hosted a podcast together, a friendship that predates Hines’ marriage to Kennedy in 2014.
“He was working in environmental law. And again, his other beliefs were like a fly on my arm. But then it started to grow, and Cheryl asked me to listen to Bobby. He had good ideas, and I said, ‘I can’t, I can’t, I can’t.’ I just didn’t trust it. Then he supported Trump, and then things got harder,” Notaro said.

In an interview with Fox News Digital, Hines described how there was “a lot of backlash” after Kennedy launched his presidential campaign, and not many people supported it. But he said the experience helped strengthen their remaining friendships.

“My really close friends tell me, ‘Okay, you’ll get through this no matter what.’ they said. And it strengthened my friendships,” Hines said.
