The Ashes: Ollie Pope tells England team-mates to wear helmets on scooters

This is the latest in a series of local media coverage of the England team’s tour of Australia.
The players were filmed on arrival at Perth airport, with particular attention paid to Stokes and batsman Joe Root.
Drones followed visitors as they played golf, and some players posed for photos while visiting an aquarium in Perth.
Following the heavy defeat in the first Test, their performance and attitude came under intense scrutiny. Former Australia bowler Mitchell Johnson said the England team was “arrogant”.
England, who are 1-0 down in the series, are planning a holiday at Noosa on the Sunshine Coast, north of Brisbane, after the second Test, regardless of the result.
Pope said England were “very aware” of the media attention but needed to be able to enjoy time away from cricket.
“It’s important for us as cricketers and as people to try to switch off and be ourselves,” the Surrey batsman said.
Pope, 27, is on his second Ashes tour and he stressed it was different from his previous trip to Australia four years ago when the England team was subject to tough Covid restrictions.
“As we’ve seen during Covid times, locking your doors and not leaving your room is unhealthy,” Pope said.
“Whatever you do in your spare time, whether it’s taking your mind off cricket for a day or two, it’s really important.
“If they want to catch us doing it, so be it. It’s important to get that balance on a long tour like this.”
England confirmed their squad for the second Test, with all-rounder Will Jacks replacing the injured Wood.
