Vinted users lash out over sizing changes

BBC/Alys DaviesVinted users are reacting angrily after an update resulted in items being listed in the wrong size.
The second-hand shopping app revised the size categories for women’s and children’s clothing but did not contact all users about the change.
Many shoppers and sellers said on social media that Vinted listings showed a different size category than originally posted due to remapping.
The company said: an article on the website that the new system is more compatible with other platforms. It advised users to check their lists and manually change the size if necessary, which left users frustrated.
It said it changed the sizing system to make shopping on the app “easier than ever.”
The company said: “From now on the sizes you see in these listings will be more accurate, especially for items purchased from other countries or international brands.
Before the change, sizes had both a single numerical size and a single letter; for example S/8 or M/10.
In the new system, there is a letter and range such as S/UK 8-10.

There are also different numerical size ranges; For example, size XXL/16 has been changed to XXL/UK 24-26.
Stephanie Gallen from Glasgow said that the clothes she listed on Vinted with a size 14 label appeared on the platform as a size 20-22.
He told BBC News he had contacted the company to clarify whether this was an error but had yet to receive a response.

Derby’s Charlotte Lunn said she was angered by the change as she had to manually change sizes “on every single listing”.
“For me, this is especially frustrating because I am chronically ill and since I lost some of my income, selling on Vinted is very important to me,” he said.
BBC News has contacted Vinted for comment.
Frankie, who prepares TikTok content about plus-size fashion, said that this change “makes it difficult to both sell and buy.”
“A lot of brands don’t say XL is 20-22,” Frankie said, and that’s what Vinted is doing now.
“People have been asking Vinted to do sizing separately for years, [with] one label for letters and one label for numbers.”
The app has more than 100 million users, 18 million of whom are in the UK.
