Britons should be ready to “unplug all non-essential devices” in the nine counties facing the storm on Sunday.
The Met Office has published its UK weather forecast for the extended weekend, providing more information on atmospheric conditions.
According to the national agency, “many parts of England and Wales will start off wet on Sunday, with rain also possible in southern Scotland and severe outbursts likely to occur once again”.
The agency added: “Scotland and Northern Ireland will experience fresher weather overall, with fewer and lighter showers.
“Temperatures will be near average in northern areas, while parts of the southeast may still be quite warm where clouds break later in the day.”
The Met Office publishes advice on its website on how to “stay safe” during thunder and lightning.

Mark Sidaway, Deputy Chief Forecaster at the Met Office, said: “Bank holiday Monday will remain variable with clouds and scattered showers continuing in the south and central areas, but these should be milder and less frequent than at the weekend.”
