Alan won the Famous Traitors award after a thrilling final last Thursday night.

The audience applauded the unfortunate comedian, who is among the bookies’ favorites, for managing to remain unnoticed throughout the competition by committing two ‘murders’ in plain sight.

However, he faced an uphill battle early in the game when the Loyalists voted out the other Traitor Cat, leaving him as the last man standing.

After Alan managed to convince Nick and David Olusoga that he was Loyal and ended the game by doing so, he burst into tears when host Claudia asked him to finally reveal his true identity.

Alan revealed the betrayal “torn me to pieces” as a stunned Nick put his hand over his mouth in shock, while David was – to quote Kate Garraway – “stunned”.

The comedian said: ‘I was so bad, I had no poker face but here I am.

‘Perhaps I sometimes exaggerate a showbiz story.

‘But it was hard to lie to people’s faces.’

Fans will be delighted to learn that Celebrity Traitors has been renewed for a second season, with more than 14 million viewers tuning in to see the winner of the record-breaking first series.

The BBC has also revealed the huge financial impact on the company after attracting millions of viewers thanks to the hit series.

The first episode reached a whopping 14.8 million viewers, making The Celebrity Traitors the BBC’s biggest unscripted film since 2021.

The finale also broke records, averaging 11 million viewers throughout its broadcast; It was the BBC’s biggest audience ever for the night, surpassing last year’s Gavin & Stacey Christmas special finale, which broke its own record.

The final was also watched on BBC iPlayer with 1.9 million viewers; this was the highest live viewing figure of any entertainment program broadcast on the streaming site.

The series’ popularity has meant huge profit increases for Scotland, where the UK series is filmed; The new Economic Impact Report has confirmed that The Traitors series generated an estimated £21.8 million for the Scottish economy across its UK, US and Celebrity editions.

The report included contributions from Visit Scotland and Screen Scotland.

Celebrity Traitors is available to watch on BBC iPlayer.
