Manchester Super Giants chased a target of 81 off just 59 balls as they defeated London Spirit by seven wickets at The Hundred.
Ryana MacDonald-Gay took 4-17 as the Super Giants defeated the Spirit with nine balls remaining at Lord’s as the visiting batsmen completed their chase to lose just three wickets.
After starting the batting in the opening fixture, the Spirit were in trouble after losing openers Grace Harris and Amy Jones for four overs and a golden duck.
MacDonald-Gay dismissed Marie Kelly and Marizanne Kapp, who had the highest score with 17 points, while Deandra Dottin was defeated by Sophie Ecclestone with four points.
Home captain Charlie Dean was one of four batters to reach double figures; The innings ended early as MacDonald-Gay bowled out Katie George for eight before she was run out herself and the innings reached 14.
Playing their first game under their new name after five years at the Manchester Originals, the Super Giants have worked steadily in pursuit of their lofty targets.
Smriti Mandhana and skipper Meg Lanning put on 33 for the opening wicket, with Smriti Mandhana trapped lbw on 17 by Kapp.
Kapp struck in the next over by bowling Grace Scrivens, but Paige Scholfield got rid of the hat-trick ball.
Lanning fell behind Hannah Rainey with 21 points, but Richa Ghosh (15 not out from five) and Scholfield (22 not out of 15) made quick work of it, with Scholfield scoring four and six consecutive points to win the game.
