The incredible new £500m road that should end traffic chaos between 2 | UK | News

The missing connection scheme of £ 500 million is raising three miles of the very needed dual highway between Brockworth and Cowley. National highways and contractor Kier is currently lifting beams on bridges that make up part of the new A417. A continuous pair of transport will be created that connects the M5 highway in Gloucester to the M4 highway via A419.
Obstruction and weak visibility often contributed to a higher frequency of accidents in this part of the road. The project, which is provided with Kier, promises to increase the road capacity to reduce obstruction and increase traffic delays and safety. A417’s connection between the two pairs of highway and meets special requirements to protect the Cotswolds view, as well as introducing the UK’s largest green bridge to help the new path of schemes, wildlife, cyclists and hikers. Hundreds of thousands of hours have been spent in order to reveal archaeological findings and create a large number of historical artifacts.
The engineers also created a new waterway instead of the grilles.
Earlier this year, dramatic drone pictures showed the large construction work scale required for the project of 500 million pounds. The new Shab Valley Underbridge will sit under the nine -time passage.
“This plan is vital for the region and will mean smoother, safer and more reliable journeys for upgrade drivers. We are happy to make a lot of progress and we will improve it to offer it as soon as possible.”
The construction of bat cans and bird fencing are just a few of the protection efforts. Last year, a major operation to re -place adders was carried out with a British reptile expert who found new houses for them.
During the preparation studies, the contractors say that they have changed more than 2,000 reptiles and more than 100 Roman snails to reduce their effects on fauna.
National Highways, the new flow was designed to follow a natural, curved route, encouraging habitat and designed to support local biological diversity, he said.
The largest of the bridges is the surrounding bridge with 37m wide and domestic plants. Pastures, domestic fences and trees rich in species will be planted in transitions and roads.
The site is also used as a test area for an award -winning innovation to remove microplastic from waste water flow.
A417 is a three -mile single -lane highway in the A417 between the Brockworth Bypass and Cowley junction in Gloucestershire itself. It connects Gloucester, Cheltenham and Swindon through M5 and M4 highways. The road provides a significant way between Gloucester and Swindon and helps to connect Midlands/North to the south of England.
The national highways is currently raising this single transport way to double transport to create a complete pair of transport between the M4 and M5. The project, which started at the beginning of 2023, is expected to be completed by 2027.
