The major secret that Prince William and Kate kept from George | Royal | News

George was just seven years old when William and Catherine decided to give their son more details about his future. Royal expert and historian Robert Lacey, writing in the biography Battle of Brothers, explained: “William did not reveal to the world how or when he broke the big news to his son [George]. Maybe one day George will tell us the story himself.”

He later added: “But around the boy’s seventh birthday in the summer of 2020, it is thought his parents provided further details about what the little prince’s future life of royal ‘service and duty’ would specifically entail.”

The decision to keep his sons in the dark during the early years of his life was reportedly due to “William’s unhappiness with the haphazard way in which all the affairs of royal destiny had been buzzing around his head from the beginning.”

Fans have previously expressed surprise that the royal couple kept this secret from George.

While one person on TikTok added: “Wow. I never thought he wouldn’t know,” while another added: “I feel like a movie is going to be made about this.”

Another added: “Prince George will be a great King like his father one day.”

One user joked: “I guess he might have realized that when he woke up in a castle!”

William and Catherine, parents of 10-year-old Princess Charlotte and 7-year-old Prince Louis, are also reportedly keen to ensure all three of their children have as normal a childhood as possible.

Author Tom Quinn, previously writing in his book Gilded Youth, said: “I think what William and Kate are really trying to make is that they’re going to be much more involved with their children, especially their boys.”
