The province of Alberta will stop changing the time twice a year

(Edmonton) Albertans should no longer need to change the time twice a year, the province’s premier, Danielle Smith, announced Monday.

Mme Smith told Postmedia the province is considering staying on daylight saving time year-round.
This means Albertans could keep the current time and would no longer have to set their watches back an hour in the fall and set them forward in the spring.
Alberta residents would thus have less daylight in the morning in winter, but more light at the end of the day.
This change is expected to be included in legislation to be introduced later this week.
Mme Smith revealed last month that the government was holding consultations on the time change, after British Columbia decided to keep daylight saving time permanently.
