Bangladesh media claims on cross-border entry of Hadi’s killers ‘false and fabricated’: BSF
The border guard force said the reports were fake, fabricated and misleading, and maintained that “there is no evidence to substantiate such allegations.”
The BSF, which is tasked with guarding the India-Bangladesh border, said that “no such arrest or interference took place in the Meghalaya region and no illegal cross-border movement took place.”
“The allegations are completely false, fabricated and misleading and there is no evidence to support them,” Inspector General OP Upadhyay, BSF’s Meghalaya chief, said on Monday, when asked about a report in Bangladesh media alleging that two accused in Sharif Osman Hadi murder had entered India. he said.
When asked about some Bangladesh media reports claiming that Meghalaya Police had nabbed the accused after they entered India, the officer said: “Just three days ago, Bangladesh media quoted an IG-rank officer as saying that no such evidence was available. Now, a DIG-level officer has made contradictory statements. It was alleged that Meghalaya Police had nabbed individuals, but after verification, Meghalaya Police denied these claims. All reports in Bangladesh media are false.”
Upadhyay further said, “There has been no such cross-border movement in Meghalaya region and even Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has not reported any such incident.”
The IG added: “BGB is a highly professional force. The allegation that individuals entered India from a location around 300 km from Dhaka despite extensive CCTV surveillance and checkpoints in Bangladesh is highly implausible. The allegations are therefore extremely unlikely, completely false and fabricated.” They informed that the accused fled to India through Haluaghat border in Bangladesh’s Mymensingh district and are currently in the Indian state.
Bangladesh media reported that the Additional Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police stated during a media briefing that Faisal Karim Masud and Alamgir Sheikh entered India through the Haluaghat border in Mymensingh with the help of their local accomplices.
32-year-old Şerif Osman Hadi was shot in the head and seriously injured during the election campaign in Dhaka on December 12. He was later taken to Singapore for specialized medical treatment and died there on December 18.
