The royal protocol Princess Kate broke after Prince George’s birth | Royal | News

Princess Kate “insisted” on breaking royal protocol for a very important reason following the birth of her first child, according to reports. The Princess of Wales asked that the public announcement of Prince George’s birth in July 2013 be delayed by a few hours to allow the young family to “enjoy the moment in private”, a royal writer has claimed. Prince George was born at 4.24pm on July 22, but Buckingham Palace did not announce the news until later that evening.
The Prince and Princess of Wales’ preference for private life continued as their family grew; former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond claimed William was “a much more protective husband and father than a King-in-waiting”.
“After a childhood spent shuttling between his squabbling parents’ homes, William is determined to provide his family with the stability they crave,” he told The Mirror.
“He’s almost obsessed with protecting his family’s privacy. And the truth is, they may have far more privacy in a secluded house in Windsor Great Park than they would enjoy if they lived in the middle of a major tourist attraction like the Palace or the Castle.”
The Princess will travel to Reggio Emilia in Italy this week in collaboration with the Royal Foundation Early Childhood Centre.
After being diagnosed with an undisclosed form of cancer in early 2024, Kate revealed she was in remission at the beginning of last year and was undergoing chemotherapy for it.
He has gradually returned to royal duties, including supporting the King on state visits to the UK, and last month met with the late Queen Elizabeth II. He joined the Royal Family to mark the 100th anniversary of Elizabeth II’s birth and appeared alone at the Cenotaph on Anzac Day.
