The secret codename radio staff used to hide Prince William interview | Royal | News

His radio appearance saw him discuss a range of topics with Heart radio presenters Jamie Theakston and Amanda Holden. This included talks about the Isles of Scilly, football and family life. Although the radio interview was announced several days in advance, the radio station appeared to have a code name for it.
This codename was ‘Project Susan’ because it rhymed with the word royal.
According to producer Matt Manley, the name was inspired by singer Susan Boyle, of whom the radio station is a big fan.
“We called this project ‘Project Susan’ (Susan Boyle -> royal),” Heart radio producer Matt wrote on his public LinkedIn account.
“We told Kensington Palace the code name and they loved it.”
The producer also said during the interview that the Aston Villa jersey they were supposed to give to the prince was actually going to say “Will”, but the store ran out of the letter I, so they decided to have a Heart printed on the back of the jersey instead.
She also revealed that the Heart Radio team saw Prince William the night before the broadcast, but the whole team was too scared to say hello.
Prince William’s interview on Friday appeared to be a huge success; many people were tuning in to hear about the future King.
The prince spoke on the radio about a number of topics, including his wife Princess Catherine and their children Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.
Commenting sweetly about his wife, William said: “She’s an amazing mother and an amazing wife; literally our family couldn’t cope without her. So she’s been absolutely stunning, she really is.”
