Ex-MP Santosh Kumar quizzed by SIT in phone-tapping case

BRS leader and former MP Santosh Kumar appeared before the Special Investigation Team (SIT) in Hyderabad on Tuesday for questioning in the phone tapping case amid tight security at the investigation office.
This development came soon after BRS working president KT Rama Rao appeared before the SIT at Jubilee Hills Deputy Commissioner of Police. Former Irrigation Minister and Siddipet MLA T. Harish Rao also appeared before the investigation team in connection with the incident.
The Telangana government recently constituted a 10-member Special Investigation Team headed by Hyderabad Police Commissioner VC Sajjanar to expedite the investigation nearly 21 months after the case was first registered.
The case came to light after the arrest of former SIB Deputy Superintendent of Police Praneeth Rao on March 13, 2024. Rao was detained from his home in Rajanna Sircilla area following a complaint by his superior, Additional Police Inspector D. Ramesh, who accused him of tapping calls of many senior political leaders and government officials without permission.
