K-RIDE distributes insurance certificates to project-affected families along BSRP Corridor-2

Railway Infrastructure Development Corporation (Karnataka) Ltd. (K-RIDE) distributed Social Security Term Insurance Certificates to project affected persons (PAPs) in Corridor-2 of Bengaluru Suburban Rail Project (BSRP) on Wednesday.
According to the statement, the distribution took place during the Skill Development and Livelihood Restoration Orientation Program held in Yeshwantapur.
Lakshman Singh, managing director of K-RIDE, handed over the certificates to PAPs, including slum dwellers, slum dwellers and members of the project workforce. Mr Singh underlined the importance of integrating social security measures with infrastructure development. He said the BSRP is not just about improving urban mobility and reducing traffic congestion and emissions, but also about fair compensation, social security coverage and restoring livelihoods for communities affected by major infrastructure projects.
As part of the Resettlement Action Plan (RAP), a detailed census and socio-economic survey identified 263 project-affected persons along the 1.2 km stretch of the Corridor-2 route in Lingarajapuram and Banaswadi. This includes 100 notified slum dwellers and 163 slum dwellers. With the support of the Karnataka Slum Development Board, financial assistance was provided to eligible PAPs after consultations and clarification of rights. The statement stated that many families relocated voluntarily after receiving the necessary support.
The program focused on long-term livelihood restoration. Resource persons from Rural Development and Self-Employment Training Institute (RUDSETI) briefed the participants about various skill development and entrepreneurship opportunities. “The convenor of the State Level Bankers’ Committee explained in detail the social security and insurance schemes of the State and Central governments. Under the post-resettlement measures, the affected households and the project workforce were linked to schemes like Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana and Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana, providing insurance cover up to ₹6 lakh per head,” the statement said.
