“The View” co-host Sunny Hostin on Monday urged former Vice President Kamala Harris to reconsider running for governor of California; The co-hosts discussed Rep. Eric Swalwell’s decision to end his campaign due to sexual assault allegations.

“I think the big question for me right now is, you know, California, like running a country. Swalwell was running for governor and was the leading candidate for the Democrats. I mean, California has surpassed Japan as the fourth-largest global economy. It has a GDP of $4.25 trillion. So, I’d like to see Kamala Harris throw her hat in the ring again as Governor of California. I know there’s talk of being president — I don’t know. That’s the right position for her, but gosh, she sure knows California,” Hostin said.

Co-host Ana Navarro said the deadline to enter the race has passed.

The deadline for announcing candidacy was March 6. The state’s primary election will be held June 2.

Swalwell announced Sunday that he would suspend his campaign for governor of California, citing personal issues and ongoing allegations in a statement published on X.

“I am suspending my gubernatorial campaign,” Swalwell wrote. “On behalf of my family, staff, friends and supporters, I am deeply sorry for the errors of judgment I have made in my past.”

“I will fight the serious, false allegations that have been made, but this is my fight, not a campaign’s,” he added.

Harris announced that she will not enter the race for governor in California in July 2025.

But the former presidential candidate said last week that he was considering running for president.

Hostin was a staunch supporter of Harris after she replaced former President Joe Biden at the top of the Democratic ticket in 2024.

In an October 2024 interview with the former vice president, she asked Harris a crucial question that was seen as a major turning point for her campaign.
