These secret codes involve using a phone dialer (yes, these phones can still make real calls) and start with special characters like an asterisk.
or the pound sign (#) with numbers in between. One of the most well-known is of course *67 for blocking caller ID. But there are others that provide useful information or perform useful actions. Want to know more about local networks and cell towers, as well as how good your phone’s signal strength is? Dial *3001#12345#* to get details. Unless you have technical knowledge about wireless networks, you probably won’t understand the information you encounter. You’ll recognize things like bandwidth, which network you’re on, like 5G, and which radio the phone is using, like LTE.
Maybe you need to know your device’s unique International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI) number. Useful for detecting lost or stolen phones, seeing if your phone is connected to a carrier, or when looking for customer support. You can easily access this information from Settings and from the box of the product you’ve probably thrown away for a long time. However, as an alternative, you can type *#06# into the dialer.
If you don’t remember whether you forwarded calls to a different number or want to make sure someone isn’t doing it secretly, enter *#67 or *#21#. This will note the number to which your calls are forwarded. If you haven’t set up call forwarding, it will probably show the operator’s voicemail number.

Don’t have an unlimited plan and want to track your call minutes? You can probably log into your carrier app to check account status, but the data isn’t always updated in real time. To receive a text message telling you how many calling minutes are left on your plan, type *646# with AT&T (*876# for Spanish), #646 with Verizon, and #646# with T-Mobile.
For details about your billing cycle, such as when it restarts and whether it’s overdue, type *3282# with AT&T, #3282 with Verizon, and #932# with T-Mobile. For your account balance, type *225# for AT&T, #225 for Verizon, #225# for T-Mobile, or *777# on a prepaid plan to receive a text message with details.
There are other less technical secret codes on the iPhone through iOS 26. However, be careful if you want to try these codes: Some of the codes involve erasing the contents of the device; This can result in disaster if you do it accidentally. If you’re curious and attentive, you’ll have fun showing your friends the new tricks you’ve learned. Note that carriers sometimes disable or change these codes, so they may not always work.
