Third teen charged with murder over stabbing death outside hospital
A third teenager has been charged with murder after a 15-year-old boy was stabbed to death meters from a hospital in Melbourne’s north on Wednesday.
Mickleham teenager Darweish Mohamed was found seriously injured outside Craigieburn Community Hospital at around 7.50pm.
A staff member frantically performed CPR on Darweish in a parking lot near Lygon Drive but was unable to revive him.
A 14-year-old boy arrested by police on Friday has been charged with murder and is awaiting trial.
The charge comes after two other boys, ages 15 and 16, were charged with murder. Their cases were already in court and both were arrested.
At Friday’s juvenile court hearing, the judge was told the 16-year-old accused teenager was accused of committing a bailable offense after being charged by police and released on bail for a separate offense on June 27, four days before the fatal stabbing.
Police said a burned-out car linked to Darweish’s death was found in Oaklands Junction, 10 kilometers from where the teenager died.
Police also charged a 20-year-old Beveridge man with criminal damage by fire and a 15-year-old girl with affray and motor vehicle theft.
