Amitabh Bachchan and Parveen Babi in Khud-Daar

On July 26, 1982, Amitabh Bachchan had a fatal accident in the Coolie sets. Superstar was critical for several weeks and at some point he was clinically dead for several minutes. Bachchan was discharged in late September 1982 after spent about two months (59 days) in the hospital. However, even if the actor was in the hospital, one of his films was released in the theaters and was superhit. It was released just four days after the Coolie accident on 30 July 1982 and lasted for several weeks in theaters.

The film is Khud-Daar, directed by Ravi Tandon and produced by Mehmood’s brother Anwar Ali. Apart from Amitabh Bachchan and Parveen Babi, he played Khud-Daar, Sanjev Kumar, Vinod Mehra, Prem Chopra, Mehmood, Bindiya Goswami and Tanuja. In 1985, the film was rebuilt in Tamil as the Padikkadavan, starring the legendary actors Sivaji Ganesan and Rajinikanth.
