Those who label Kanwariyas as miscreants also alienated tribal communities, says U.P. CM Yogi

Uttar Pradesh Prime Minister Yogi Adityanath claimed that Kanwar Yatra in Varanasi was deliberately ashore on Friday, July 18, 2025, and that the participants were labeled as a goon by elements who wanted to humiliate Kanwariyas’s Indian heritage. Mr. Adityanath warned people from anti-social elements trying to fuel caste and social tensions. “A few years ago, there was a cases of arson. He tried to provoke tribal communities against the nation. “Such elements should face a strict action,” he said.

Mr. Adityanath, who praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi as November 15 as Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas (Day of Tribal Pride), greeted the decision as a sense of respect and recognition in the tribal communities. “Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas is a gratitude and a bridge of communication with them,” he said.
