Optus CEO Stephen Rue, South Australia, Western Australia and Northern region up to 600 households on Thursday, was affected by the triple zero deduction during a network raising.
Rue, on Friday, told journalists in Sydney, “Welfare controls in the process of executing, a person tragically died in a triple zero call in a tragic way was recommended to contain the people of the household.”
“Please know that these prosperity controls are continuing.”
He said the technical problem on the network was solved.
The boss of Australia’s second largest Telco provider presented “a sincere apology to all customers who can’t connect to emergency services when they need it.”
“I wish the most sincere and heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of the deceased – I am very sorry,” he said.
“What happens is completely unacceptable.”
The Executive Board Chairman said that the duration of the deduction is not yet known and that more details will be announced when the internal investigation is completed.
In 2024, the apology comes after Optus pays more than $ 12 million to violate emergency call rules on a country -wide network deduction that caused a significant deterioration a year ago.
