Manchester United and Bournemouth played out an eight-goal thriller on Monday in what former Liverpool and England defender Jamie Carragher described as “the best game” so far this season in England’s top league.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Carragher said: “That’s what makes the Premier League the best product in the world.

“Manchester United for the most part were absolutely brilliant. Bournemouth were out of the running in the first half but were brilliant in the second half. What a great game it was. Great.

“I think we watched the best game of the Premier League season so far.”

The Red Devils drew 5-5 with West Brom in Sir Alex Ferguson’s last match of 2013.

United’s 4-4 draw against the Cherries was their 17th appearance on the scoreboard in the Premier League era.
