Couple renovating Victorian home floored by attic discovery | Weird | News

A couple in the process of renovating their Victorian terraced property uncovered a series of unusual discoveries after entering the attic for the first time.
Rosie and Ben, who are in their early twenties, have been working hard to modernize the interior of their home, documenting their projects on social media. “We finally went up to the attic and found these all scattered on the floor,” they wrote in a caption alongside a series of photos on TikTok.
They continued: “Every photo tells a little story. Which one would you keep?” The first item sitting in the corner of the attic was a tired-looking metal children’s chair with foam padding that looked like it had collected mold. “Someone’s childhood is behind them,” Rosie and Ben said.
Later, the pair came across a diary full of “gossip” written by the house’s previous resident, Kate. “Should we read it?” they asked their followers.
Rosie and Ben also came across an old acoustic guitar, albeit without any strings, and a 400-day anniversary clock in a glass dome surround – so named because it can run for around 400 days without needing to be rewound.
The duo also found jewelery in the box, in the form of a silver-stamped heart necklace as well as a white floral handbag. “From a memorable event?” Rosie and Ben thought.
This was followed by a pair of Maretll cognac glasses, which they admitted they “definitely keep”; Other finds included a kettle, a flower-framed mirror and bathroom tiles. The duo commented, “Very 80’s”.
The last work Rosie and Ben would share was Connie Monk’s novel Hannah’s Wharf, published in 1989.
“I love all of this,” one TikTok user wrote in response. “It reminded me of the days I spent at my grandmother’s house. It’s sad they’re gone, but they’re such good memories.” Meanwhile, others urged Rosie and Ben to share an idea for the diary.
In the next post, they revealed a series of “silly” poems and anecdotes – again featuring Kate, as well as Delia, Ruth and Lisa – that appeared to have been written by a number of children. “There were some questionable parts here that we couldn’t include,” Rosie and Ben joked.
One note read: “The bunny has a shiny nose. But he can’t fix it. Because the little powder bubble is on the other side.”
Another said: “The cow was standing on the railway. A train was coming fast. The train derailed. To let the cow pass.”
The third page said “mods and modems rule the world”, and also referenced Paul Weller, frontman of The Jam and The Style Council, and singer Dee C Lee, who worked with Weller on the latter in 1984.
