Three Of Family Found Dead In Gangavathi

– Copal: A jeweler, his wife and their 19-year-old son were found dead in a house in Gangavathi on Saturday morning. Police detected a case of unnatural death and launched an investigation.

The dead were identified as jewelery shop owner Prakash Raikar (55), his wife Prabhavati (46) and their son Shashank (19), a university student.

According to the complaint filed by Prakash’s younger brother Raghavendra Raikar, the family was living in a rented house near Matti Hospital after shifting from their home in Prashanth Nagar earlier this year.

The complaint states that the Prashanth Nagar house was sold to a person named Jantakal Nagaraj. Nagaraj allegedly took a loan from Manvi Pattana Sahakari Bank by mortgaging the property and Prakash was the guarantor. The bank took possession of the house in February after Nagaraj was reportedly unable to repay the loan.

The complaint stated that Raghavendra received a call from Prabhavati’s brother Ashok Shet around 9 am and told him that Prabhavati had sent a WhatsApp message around 8.20 am but did not respond to subsequent calls. He asked Raghavendra to check on the family.

Raghavendra first went to the rented house near Matti Hospital but found that the house was locked. He then went to the family’s old house in Prashanth Nagar around 10 am. The back door was open while the front door was locked. When he looked in through the back entrance, he saw the three of them hanging around the house.

He alerted Prabhavati’s relatives, community members and the police.

Since the bank took possession of the property, its manager was called to the scene.

No suicide note or any suspicious material was found at the scene.

On Raghavendra’s complaint, Gangavathi Town Police registered a case of unnatural death under Section 194(3) of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita and initiated an investigation.
