Three teenagers arrested over death of man in Essex | UK news

Three teenagers, including a 14-year-old boy, have been arrested on suspicion of murdering a 21-year-old man in a park in Essex.

Emergency services attended Central Park in Chelmsford at around 7pm on Friday, where the victim was found with critical injuries.

Despite efforts by paramedics to save him, the 21-year-old died at the scene, Essex police said. An investigation immediately began and officers were quickly directed to an address in Auckland Close, Chelmsford.

A spokesman for the agency said the suspects, aged 14, 17 and 18, were arrested a short time later and were being held for questioning.

The victim’s family has been informed and they are receiving support from specially trained police officers.

Detective Constable Lydia George said: “This is a very sad incident. A family is grieving and our thoughts remain with them at this incredibly difficult time.

“I urge the public and the media to please respect their privacy as we continue the early stages of this investigation. We are committed to getting them answers and building as clear a picture as possible of the circumstances surrounding what happened.”

George added that police are not looking for any other suspects and there is no ongoing risk to the public.

“This took place in a busy public area and although we have received valuable assistance from the public, we continue to appeal for information. Even the smallest detail can be crucial.”
