A three-year-old girl was admitted to the intensive care unit after a rattlesnake bit her while trying to pick up an Amazon package earlier this month.

On July 13, young girl Addy went out with her mother to pick up a package that dropped on the doorstep of their home in Santa Clarita, north of Los Angeles.

“Tragically, a south Pacific rattlesnake was hiding under the brown padded envelope and biting Addy’s left hand,” her father, Manny Barajas, wrote in a fundraising campaign memo.

Addy’s mother, Lynn, drove the girl to a nearby grocery store parking lot to meet first responders, who took her to the hospital and administered a dose of antidote. The hospital then transferred him to another facility with a pediatric intensive care unit, where he received two more doses of anti-venom, according to Barajas.

The treatment seems to have worked.

“It’s going great right now.” Barajas told KTLAHe adds: “He still has a bruise on his left hand where he was bitten. He’s in good spirits, his attitude is great, but he’s asking why he was bitten by the snake.”
