Tips and race-by-race guide for Quirindi on Monday
Neil Evans
Follow the soft 6 and the right rail.
race 1
1. Evil Sun lightly raced and progressive, making only his third start. He was at his best on debut late last year, then produced an even better effort when he stormed home late to beat all but the winner at Dubbo as the favourite. Now he is finding a race that is fresh again and has less depth, although it has not been officially tried. 10. Supido Star She is an improving filly and a second major threat from a deeper race. The drier the track, the better position it will be in. 6. Flying Molly Continuing on he was beaten by two lengths in the same race as before. 2. Boss Jack fourth place and 3. RuairiHe who hedges the fence to third place is the best of the rest.
How to play: The Evil Sun will win.
Race 2
10. Russian Words A mare who raced sparingly and is still improving, finally starts the right journey in fourth place. He worked his fair way at home in back-to-back runs against deeper provincial opposition before taking a month’s break to do his best work as a maiden here a fortnight ago. It explodes for this trip and can produce a superior closing wave. 1st Little Duke It is built by a famous master of speed and makes its debut after two stages of trials, the last of which was on this track. 4. Seller As we go through a quiet trial for a leading country for the first time since the spring, 2. Mr. Cornstar He could rise to the top at third and go through the same run of form as the top pick.
How to play: Russian Words for Winning.
Race 3
2. Erniegy A progressive and consistent three-year-old who spent 23 days reloading between runs after missing the start at the abandoned Gunnedah meeting. In this first preparation he beat all but the winner in three runs. Finding the right path is plotted and only requires a clear shot in the last 400 metres. It’s way beyond the odds. 5. Microgravity He is likely to be one of the favorites after running home strongly on his debut behind a likely smart winner. 3.Fortheo Broad but honest and in great form after running this campaign four times. 8. Prima Vecchio It is a great market follow-up at the first exit for a strong country stability. He was equipped with two soft trials and was selected to run here from Sunday’s Mudgee meeting. 7. Northern Fire He has improved sharply at this track in his second start and can fill the small money.
How to play: Erniegy will win.
Race 4
1. It can be done She is a sparingly racing country mare who will enjoy moving up to third grade after a five-week transformation and represents terrific value. He failed to get to the line in deeper state company in mid-March before riding late to move ahead by just half a length from BM 66 at Mudgee. He adapts to this smaller course with his tactical speed and immediately returns to the weights after the young rider’s 4kg claim. 3. Denman Bandit After a dominant Grade 1 win at Wellington, he is well placed as he reloads after a break. 4. I know you Ready to hit the top with a little bit of off-piste. 6. Golden Vader He placed third on this track. 7. Magnolia JewelWe came back to class third and 8. Cold AreaMoving on after a long spell can add plenty of value to exotic games.
How to play: He can win.
race 5
6. Whittello Sun He is a light-racing and improving three-year-old who was able to finish fourth in a wide and difficult race. After crossing the line late on a very short ride at Scone Fresh, he came home from midfield to make his debut over 1280m at Muswellbrook. Then, 17 days ago, when he increased the distance, he did his best work again at the end of Grade 1. I am now ready for this journey and am being treated well at the weights after the jockey’s claim. 3. Miss Taurus Having settled in three of his last four matches, he is as real as they come and could produce another big display with a handy eight-day reserve draw. 2.Jason Darren He is also sitting very tight and will try to get through a wide draw and control the race. 7. Rainbow Blessing will appreciate the extra long third. 1. Zou Big Boyto go back for a while and 5. Grand ArmadaWhen we go back to fourth grade, take over the rest.
How to play: Whittello Sun will win.
race 6
4. King Larry A five-year-old racing sparingly could rise to fourth place shortly after a six-week renewal in another very open affair. After running home well in the tough Skellatar Sprint at Muswellbrook, he wasn’t far behind at Lone Pine after coming close. Increase the distance at the right time and draw to find a useful trail. 2. Shadow Dane He could run a big race fresh for a leading Dubbo stable after tackling deeper races in recent preparations. 13. Irish Jig Another great market observation after a soft trial. 6. He’s My Warrior It has been two wins in a row to start this campaign, but there is a wide chance of a draw here in a much deeper race. 11.Vierville He is coming off a third win and draw to make a smooth progress on pace.
How to play: King Larry will win.
race 7
6. Jester A lightly raced country mare, she is finally moving up from the 1000m dash and is likely well placed to make it two wins from her last four. He moved down nicely to claim his maiden three starts ago before working home in a deeper Grade 1. Then again he did his best work of late when it wasn’t suited to an ordinary Gosford surface, but this form reads well for it despite the broad drawing. 2. Dingle Gray She is an emerging country filly with plenty of talent who was first out at Wyong before failing on Anzac Day at Gosford. 7. Indi Springs he also raced lightly and upset a weak early field as the hot favourite, as he went on. 1. Imperial State We returned from a long break here two weeks ago with a solid run, by the way 9. Jamacri after one spell he beat all but the winner in two rounds, but this is harder. Space with the rest.
How to play: It’s weird in every way.
