Wearing Helmets Can Reduce Head Injury Risk By 88%: Bagchi

Visakhapatnam: Visakhapatnam City Police Commissioner Shanka Brata Bagchi said on Sunday: “About 11,90,000 people die from road accidents every year in the world.
“Around 2,50,000 people die every year due to road accidents in India. If we look at the pattern of road traffic accidents, about 45 per cent of these accidents involve two-wheelers, while the major cause of death is head trauma,” he said.
“If riders properly wear a helmet with ISI marking, the chances of head injury can be reduced by 88 percent. Today, NGO Aap Sabki Awaz has come forward to donate 400 helmets to 400 security guards of Vizag city police,” he said.
“We deeply appreciate this initiative and express our sincere gratitude to the NGO. Be safe, get up safely and wear a helmet; this is the message that Aap Sabki Awaz wants to spread to the entire society,” Bagchi added.
