Tony Dokoupil halts CBS Evening News report over cameraman medical emergency

“CBS Evening News” was broadcast live It was suddenly interrupted on Wednesday The episode was forced to cut mid-report after a cameraman had a medical emergency on set.
While reporting from Taiwan about President Donald Trump’s upcoming meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping, anchor Tony Dokoupil paused his report to check on a crew member who suddenly fainted.
“You will hear a lot about the decline of America and the rise of a powerful new China – is it good?” Dokoupil asked as the crew member was heard falling to the ground off-screen.

“We’re going to take a short break. There’s a medical emergency here. We’re calling a doctor,” he added, before the segment abruptly cut off.
Another voice from the reporting set can also be heard saying, “Call the doctor, please.”
The broadcast then quickly passed to CBS News chief correspondent Matt Gutman in New York, who briefly signed off on the broadcast on Dokoupil’s behalf.
CBS later said in a statement that the cameraman was “doing well and recovering” after suffering a medical emergency.

Dokoupil anchors from Taipei, Taiwan, for Trump’s two-day summit with Xi Jinping in Beijing following CBS reported not available Visa from mainland China in time to cover the meeting.
