Tensions escalated Saturday night in the Pop-Tarts Bowl between the BYU Cougars and Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets.
While Georgia Tech held the lead for most of the game, BYU made a stunning comeback and won the game 25-21. The Cougars finished the season 12-2, while Georgia Tech finished the season 9-4.
While Pop-Tarts brought fun to the bowl game, the competition itself also heated up.

Pop-Tarts is inserting itself into the bowl game

Most bowl games without betting are considered boring or pointless. But Pop-Tarts brought the fun for the third year in a row. Part of that was the unique flash of the end zone and sideline art. BYU and Georgia Tech each had school names with sprinkles in their respective end zones. Sprinkles also appeared on the sidelines and on each player’s helmet.
Pop-Tarts Ring of Honor
The Pop-Tarts unveiled the Ring of Honor at Camping World Stadium, paying tribute to the Pop-Tarts defeated in the previous two bowl games. They carried Cookies and Creame, Hot Fudge Sundae and Frosted Wild Berry souvenir jackets and did their best to honor the Strawberry and Cinnamon Roll.

Pre-game introduction
It wasn’t the Ohio State University band that marked the “I” letter, but it was still fun. Pop-Tarts held a pregame ceremony to show the crowd in Orlando, Florida, what Pop-Tarts were on offer for the bowl game. There were six Pop-Tarts in total, divided into two teams: Team Sprinkles and Team Swirls. Sprinkles included Protein Slammin’ Strawberries, Cookies and Cream, and Frosted Cherry. Swirls include Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough, Frosted Wild Berry, and Frosted Hot Fudge Sundae.
Bear Bachmeier leads the comeback

The Cougars trailed 21-10 entering the fourth quarter and needed to dig deep to somehow pull off the victory. Georgia Tech’s blocked field goal with 55 seconds left in the third quarter sparked the comeback. Goals from Enoch Nawahine and Jovesa Damuni and Bachmeier’s 2-point conversion helped BYU win the game.

Protein Slammin’ Strawberry rescued
The payoff for the Pop-Tarts Bowl was supposed to be a record three pastries landing in a giant toaster for the winning team to enjoy. Protein Slammin’ Strawberries, Cookies and Cream, and Cherries were dancing to the music on top of the toaster, awaiting their fate.
Protein Slammin’ Strawberry held a sign that read, “Not my dream yet.” The cake then jumped out of the toaster and ran away. The Pop-Tarts pastry’s message should read: “You haven’t seen the last of me!”
Cookies, Cream and Cherry Pop-Tarts were put in the toaster and served as giant treats for the champions.
