Top Five hilarious NFL Draft night moments to get the nostalgia flowing

As the NFL Draft approaches, many fans are ready to see their team select some of their favorite future players.
Draft day is special because it represents the next generation of franchise players and is a dream come true for many young athletes.
But we are not here today to talk about that.
While the NFL Draft has its iconic moments, it’s also home to some laugh-out-loud funny moments.
Below are five of the funniest sketch moments in recent memory, from dog jokes to pot creativity and everything in between.
5. Mel Kiper’s Shedeur Sanders Collapses (2025)

This was more weird than funny at the time, but with later knowledge it became much funnier.
Mel Kiper is no stranger to some bad behavior towards quarterbacks during the NFL Draft (Jimmy Clausen takes a bow), but there’s no shame in being wrong.
When you stay in the industry long enough, you’re going to encounter some bad approaches, but the reason this approach is on this list is the righteous anger that Kiper speaks about.
He claims the NFL’s quarterback evaluation for the last 50 years has been wrong, but this is the same guy who said Clausen would retire if he didn’t have a successful NFL QB in seven to eight years (he was out of the league within five years and had only started 14 games in that time frame).

His behavior was so frustrating that even host Rece Davis, normally a stoic heterosexual, got into a fight with Kiper.
I know it’s only been one season, but Shedeur Sanders definitely looks like the right pick to me.
Luckily, if he suddenly becomes a Pro Bowl-caliber passer, I won’t have to retire.
4. Eagles Fans Let McNabb Be Heard

Philadelphia Eagles fans are pretty famous for being completely crazy.
There’s nothing wrong with being a dedicated fan, of course, but booing a guy your team just drafted is kind of a bad look.
No one has any idea how these guys will turn out; That’s exactly what happened when the Birds selected quarterback Donovan McNabb with the second overall pick in the 1999 NFL Draft.
Eagles fans wanted to get Ricky Williams back, and similar to Kiper’s draft day meltdown, this one is even funnier in hindsight.

Williams was a very good running back, even earning All-Pro honors in 2002, but McNabb was eventually selected to six Pro Bowls and even coached the Eagles minutes after winning the franchise’s first Super Bowl.
As much as we think we know as fans, this is one of many examples that prove we’re all just idiots sitting on our couches.
3. Belichick’s Dog Manages the Controls

The 2020 NFL Draft was a strange draft thanks to that dastardly COVID-19 virus spreading across the world, ensuring this particular draft was full of comedy fodder.
There were many notable moments, such as Poopgate at Vrabel’s home, but the star of the 2020 Draft was none other than Bill Belichick’s dog.
The Patriots’ head coach let his pup (named Mike) man the controls for a few minutes while he was away, giving us the iconic image of man’s best friend sitting in front of a computer in the kitchen, complete with a “Bill Belichick” lower-third nameplate.
Everything weird about the 2020 Draft is summed up in this image.
What a wild time! It almost doesn’t feel real.
2. Vikings Asleep at the Wheel

Nowadays, teams rarely use their allotted time in the first round of the NFL Draft; These teams more or less know who they will buy.
But it wasn’t always like this.
They even cut the “shot clock” from 15 minutes to 10 minutes starting in 2008, but in 2003 the Minnesota Vikings needed every second and then some to make their picks.
The seventh-seeded Vikings were trying to negotiate a trade with the Baltimore Ravens, but watched as they ran out of 15 minutes, becoming the first team in NFL history to lose their draft pick for taking too long.

Ironically, the story has a happy ending; The Vikes selected linebacker Kevin Williams with the ninth overall pick, and Kevin Williams went on to five All-Pro selections during his time in the Twin Cities.
See, procrastination sometimes works!
1. Sky High Draft Stock

You all knew this was going to be number one.
Ole Miss left tackle Laremy Tunsil was projected to be a top-five pick in 2016, with some publications projecting him to be the first overall pick.
That all changed less than an hour before the Tunsil draft was due to begin when a video was leaked featuring a homemade bong-gas mask hybrid that would make Jeff Spicoli proud.
Tunsil fell out of the top 10 and fell to 13th place; Here the Miami Dolphins took advantage of his gaffe.

Both Tunsil and his manager announced that the former Ole Miss Rebel’s accounts were hacked and screenshots were released of Tunsil texting the university’s assistant athletic director for help with rent.
Even though he was a highly successful left tackle in the NFL and was selected to five Pro Bowls, whenever someone mentions Tunsil’s name, images of his THC-fuelled indecisiveness will pop up first in everyone’s mind.
