Town Panchayat results are an indication of Congress government’s failure, says Vijayendra

Amid the leadership tussle in the Congress government, the Opposition BJP on Friday termed the latest election results in town panchayats where the BJP is prominent as an indication of the failure of the Congress regime.

Participating in the program commemorating “Veer Bal Diwas” at the party’s State office in Bengaluru, BJP State President BY Vijayendra claimed that the Congress, which came to power with high hopes among the people, exposed itself within 48 hours of the formation of the government. “This is because the true face of the Congress was revealed by stopping the scheme in which the then Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa had provided ₹4,000 in addition to the ₹6,000 given under the Centre’s Kisam Samman scheme. Similarly, the Vidya Nidhi scheme launched by the then Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai for the children of farmers had also been stopped,” he alleged.

Mr. Vijayendra congratulated the winning members of the town panchayat polls on the occasion and said that the performance of the party has exceeded expectations.

Meanwhile, BJP MLC N. Ravikumar alleged that the administrative machinery has collapsed in the leadership struggle between the Chief Minister and the Deputy Chief Minister. Speaking at a press conference in Bengaluru, he claimed: “While the condition of roads across the state has become deplorable, farmers are yet to receive compensation for crop losses. The government had no apparent fund from which it could collect the outstanding salaries of some civil servants. Similarly, no new recruitment had taken place.”
