Tragedy as OAP dies after crash between car and mobility scooter | UK | News

A man in his 80s who was riding his mobility scooter tragically died following a horrific crash involving a car on a pedestrian crossing. The incident occurred on Friday when a silver Volkswagen Passat was traveling towards Maidstone on the A229, Royal Engineers road.

Kent Police said the vehicle collided with the man at a pedestrian crossing near Maidstone Library. Emergency services arrived and the old man was taken to hospital in London, but he died from his injuries the next day. The driver, a man in his 40s, was arrested and released on bail pending further investigation.

Kent Police are now appealing for witnesses and anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage of the incident to come forward.

The police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit is continuing its investigation into the crash.
