‘Tragic: Woman charged with murder after fatal house fire in Clyde North

A woman has been charged with murder after a man died and another was seriously injured in a fire at a shared house in Melbourne’s south-east last month.
The 29-year-old woman, who was hospitalized under police protection after the fire, was charged with one count of murder and one count of attempted murder.

Emergency services were called to Sunburnt Circuit in Clyde North at around 1.45am on Thursday, December 18, following reports of a fire.
The fire engulfed the entire house and it took firefighters two hours to extinguish the fire.
Two men, aged 44 and 46, were taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The 44-year-old man died in hospital.
It was stated that the 46-year-old man’s health condition was stable and he remained in the hospital.


A 43-year-old woman and an 11-year-old girl were also inside the property at the time of the fire and were not physically injured.
Deputy Commissioner of Regional Operations Bob Hill said the incident was a “tragic set of circumstances”.
Police believe the parties knew each other.
The 29-year-old man was arrested and appeared in the Melbourne Magistrates Court on Friday.
