Former Cy Young Award winner and MLB All-Star Trevor Bauer pitched a no-hitter for the independent Long Island Ducks, who beat the Lancaster Stormers 13-0 on Sunday afternoon at Penn Medicine Park in Pennsylvania.
This was Bauer’s second start in the United States since 2021, and he faced just one batter above the minimum in a scheduled seven-inning doubleheader against the Stormers.
Bauer pitched 84 pitches, striking out seven and walking just one, missing the perfect game.

But Bauer let out a roar on the mound after calling three strikeouts to notch the third no-hitter in Ducks history.
Bauer, who made his debut for the Ducks on April 21, has a strong 1.64 ERA to start the season in the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball (ALPB), MLB’s “Professional Associate League.”
Fans may have been rooting for the rival Stormers, but they understood what was at stake when Bauer mowed down the hitters at the start. At one point they were even heard chanting his name, hoping he would keep their goalless streak alive.
After the game, Bauer returned the favor from those at the Pennsylvania ballpark, signing autographs and posing for photos with fans after entering his name into the Ducks’ record books.

“I’m looking forward to competing in front of American fans again this season,” Bauer said when he signed with the Ducks earlier this month. “The Ducks have had some incredible players come through their organization, and I am excited to be a part of that tradition.”
Former MLB stars such as Dontrelle Willis, Daniel Murphy, Rich Hill and Eric Gagne have played for the Ducks in the past. New York Mets legends Gary Carter and Bud Harrelson managed the team, with the latter also being one of the team’s partners.
Bauer’s first start for the Ducks impressed one AL team scout in attendance, who said he was quite impressed with Bauer’s arsenal on the mound.
“He looked like the guy he used to be and the kind of guy who could help a club,” the scout said. New York Post. “He came out and handled himself well. He showed the breaking moments of the fastball he’s had in the past. The velocity isn’t what it used to be, of course, but it’s still solid, 92-94 for the most part. He didn’t throw it to the inside very well with his fastball, but I thought it was a really good first pitch. You expected him to be sharper and probably pick up his velocity.”

“You’re talking about a guy who’s at the top of his game. Is he there? No, but he looked like a guy who could go out and compete.”
Bauer pitched in Japan in both 2023 and 2025, and in Mexico in 2024. In 2023, he pitched to a 2.59 ERA and 9.2 K/9 in Japan, and in Mexico those numbers rose to 2.48 and 13.0. But last year in Japan, his ERA rose to 4.41 and he struck out just 8.2 strikeouts per nine innings.
This June will mark five years since Cy Young Award winner Bauer last appeared in an MLB game. On June 28 of that year, he recorded the win, striking out eight batters while pitching six innings of two-run ball.
Two days later, Bauer faced allegations of sexual assault, which eventually led to a 324-game suspension (equivalent to two seasons). That was eventually reduced to 184 games for violating the league’s Joint Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Policy.
Bauer maintained her innocence and settled with one of the accusers, while another faced 16 years in prison on fraud charges for faking a pregnancy and asking Bauer for money for an abortion.

Bauer and Lindsey Hill, who accused the pitcher of beating and sexually assaulting her in 2021, settled their lawsuit in late 2023. Bauer uncovered Hill’s messages saying she would be Bauer’s “next victim,” among other cursed messages. Hill has since said MLB has more evidence of Bauer’s alleged misconduct.
Last June, Hill was ordered to pay Bauer more than $300,000 for violating the terms of the settlement. Hill violated their settlement agreement with each other by discussing Bauer on podcasts and publicly. Los Angeles Times reported.
About two years ago, Bauer said he might have no choice but to sue Major League Baseball “if I continue to be kept out of the league.” Bauer has said he will “play for the minor leagues” but has yet to sign with an MLB team.
“Anyone who is willing to sit down with me and listen: I would like to play the second half of my career better than I did the first half,” Bauer told Fox News Digital in January 2024.

Bauer called out MLB after Pete Rose and other deceased former players were removed from the league’s permanent ineligible list.
“So now that Pete is welcome back, does that also apply to everyone else who was blacklisted?” Bauer asked X. “Or do you actually have to be guilty of something to qualify?”
Bauer was pitching well for the Dodgers at the time the allegations emerged, posting a 2.59 ERA.
