South Africa Beat India by 30 Runs in Kolkata Test

Kolkata: Off-spinner Simon Harmer led the way with a four-wicket haul in the first Test on Sunday as South Africa defeated India by 30 runs and took an unassailable 1-0 lead in the two-match series.
The second Test will be played in Guwahati between 22-26 November. This was SA’s first Test victory in India in 15 years.
India were defeated 93/9 on the third day of the first Test when captain Shubman Gill, who was chasing victory, declared himself unavailable for the rest of the match due to a neck injury.
Simon Harmer took 4/21, while Marco Jansen returned 7-3-15-2.
Washington Sundar played a brave 31 off 92 balls but on a pitch favored by the bowlers, India’s response was tame.
Brief scores: South Africa 159 and 153 beat India by 30 runs in 35 overs, 189 and 93/9 (Washington Sundar 31; Marco Jansen 2/15, Simon Harmer 4/21).
