Security tightened in Howrah ahead of ‘Nabanna Abhiyan’ protest on 1st anniversary of RG Kar rape and murder case
The Western Bengal police increased the security in Howrah by applying additional powers and rebellion control tools.
Western Bengal Opposition leader Suvendu Adhikari announced that he would participate in the protest.

The victim’s parents will also participate in the march called by students and supported by BJP.
In the early hours of Wednesday, the victim’s father expressed his disappointment with the CBI and Calcutta police on the investigation. “We came to Delhi with hope. It has been a year and we’re walking for justice. We will try to put pressure on the CBI. Tomorrow we will try to meet the CBI director.
“The Bengal government is doing everything to stay in power by paying money and voting. There is no worries for the people. CM MAMATA BANERJEE continues to tell lies. At least 30 to 40 people in the CBI are involved in this issue.
RG Kar Medical College rape and murder incident occurred on August 9, 2024, when a 31 -year -old female graduate trainee doctor was found dead in a seminar room on the campus. The case led to widespread protests and anger throughout the country with a challenging justice for many victims.
The Supreme Court of Calcutta was transferred to the investigation Central Investigation Bureau (CBI) after expressing dissatisfaction with the police to address the case. CBI has arrested several people since then.
