Truck carrying LPG cylinders overturns and goes up in flames near Ariyalur

An explosion and fire occurred in Varanavasi near Ariyalur on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, when a truck carrying LPG cylinders overturned.

According to the information obtained, the truck driver lost control of the vehicle while taking a turn. The truck overturned and fell into the roadside sewer. The gas cylinders in the truck exploded and caught fire. The truck driver Kanagaraj managed to jump out of the vehicle but was injured. He was admitted to Ariyalur Government Medical College Hospital.

The truck carrying the consignment from Tiruchi to Ariyalur was burnt. The sound of a cylinder explosion was heard in an area of ​​approximately 2 kilometers. The flames also caused panic in the surrounding area.

Upon notification, fire brigade and rescue teams came to the scene and took the fire under control.

All vehicles from Thanjavur, Tiruchi and other places to Ariyalur are routed via V.Kaikatti. Ariyalur Collector and Superintendent of Police rushed to the spot.
