Nigel Farage, leader of Britain’s right-wing Reform Party, announced on Tuesday that he would resign from parliament to fight “order against the people” special elections.

Farage, an ally of US President Donald Trump and a high-profile figure in British politics, resigned as an MP following increasing criticism of his financial regulations.

Farage has been under investigation by the UK Parliament’s standards commissioner since May for failing to declare a £5 million ($6.7 million) gift from cryptocurrency investor and Reform party donor Christopher Harborne before he is elected to parliament in 2024.

Over the weekend, The Sunday Times reported that the Reform leader had also received financial support from political ally George Cottrell, who was convicted of wire fraud in the US in 2017.

In a statement on Tuesday, Farage said parliamentary standards were being used against him as a “political tool” and added that voters in his constituency of Clacton “should be the judges”.

Farage, who has previously described the scrutiny of its finances as “a hit to the establishment”, said: “The establishment has decided they can no longer beat us fair and square… they have chosen to resort to evil methods.”

What is Donald Trump’s connection to Nigel Farage?

Embers It turned out that he supports Farage On Monday, he published an article on Truth Social titled “They Are Running 2024 Anti-Trump Strategy on Nigel Farage.”

This comes despite claims of a rift between the two in recent months after Farage failed to secure a meeting with the president when he traveled to Mar-a-Lago in March.

Farage has led the populist right-wing UK Reform Party since 2024, after being elected to parliament in that year’s general election.

Reform UK has been ahead in most UK opinion polls since April 2025; This suggests that the party is on track to win the country’s next general election, to be held on 15 August 2029 at the latest, and potentially form the next government with Farage as prime minister.

Farage, one of the key figures in Britain’s campaign to leave the European Union, previously served as an MP in the European Parliament, where he gained a reputation as a harsh critic of the EU and its institutions.

He led the United Kingdom Independence Party (UKIP) from 2006 to 2009 and 2010 to 2016, before resigning as leader following the successful Brexit vote.
