A US Republican candidate has refused to admit how many people he has killed in a disturbing interview, despite bragging about being responsible for dozens of deaths on multiple occasions.

Both MAGA candidates for the US state of Colorado seem to enjoy flirting with controversy. Victor Marx, the front-runner in the Republican Party’s gubernatorial primary in Colorado, claims that he was forced to kill someone by his stepfather when he was just seven years old.

Establishment hopeful in the race for Colorado governor, Republican State Sen. Barbara Kirkmeyer, is running second in the polls behind Marx. Third comes State Representative Scott Bottoms, who claims Democrats are running a pedophile ring in Washington, D.C. The race for governor of Colorado was recently described as a “dumpster fire” by a Denver Post columnist.

However, despite another candidate pushing unsubstantiated conspiracy theories as fact, Marx still manages to become a candidate with the most extraordinary claims; is leading in the polls.

In an interview called both a ‘train wreck’ and a master class in confronting a candidate [their own] After a series of lies, Marx gave a lengthy interview with local news anchor Kyle Clark about his past weekend.

Clark tried to question Marx about some of his past claims, including that he killed a man as a child, that he performed actual exorcisms, and that he led an airstrike against ISIS as a civilian.

“Your claim that when you were seven years old your abusive stepfather forced you to kill a man, is that the only person you’ve ever killed?” Clark asked Marx during the interview.

The 60-year-old Marx, who is apparently not related to the German philosopher Karl Marx, remained silent for more than 10 seconds. He is then seen taking a deep breath inwards and looking up as if searching his memory.

“Well, me too… when I was a kid, I used to say yes. Without questioning it,” he finally answered.

“But I have been in other situations in other countries where people or persons have probably died as a result of my self-defense. I – that cannot be trusted,” Marx added, adding with the not-so-important addition: “There are no photographs…”

Clark then asked: “Do you think you killed people as an adult?” Marx replied: “Does it matter?” Clark replied: “Yes, I would say so. Killing someone is a pretty heavy thing.”

Marx tried to evade the question by making light of the seriousness of his alleged actions with the words: “If someone is trying to kill you, or if you’re at war…” but Clark interjected: “Taking another person’s life is still a heavy thing. I mean, it may be self-defense, it may be justifiable, but it’s still heavy. So I’m just asking you – how many people have you killed?”

“Well, if that were the case, I wouldn’t tell a reporter sitting here in my training center,” Marx replied, grinning visibly.

He didn’t miss Clark’s ability to stand up so quickly, because his grin faded when Clark responded without missing a beat: “What about the voters?”

He then pressed Marx again and added: “Will you tell the voters?”

Marx replied: “No need. I don’t think it matters. In fact, it’s an odd question for me.”

The journalist said: “You’re actually talking about the idea of killing people at regular intervals and why it’s a necessary thing – killing people. You said on NRA TV in 2017: ‘Many of them need to be killed now. I had them shoot at me and I had to shoot back. There’s a time and a place to eliminate the enemy, and you should do that, too.’ In Jeff Lerner’s podcast in 2025, you said, ‘Some people need to be killed, some people need to die.’ But isn’t it a strange question to ask you how many people you’ve killed?”

Marx gave a simple answer: “Yes.”

So Clark returned. “You claim you once conducted a US military airstrike that killed 70 ISIS fighters. I wasn’t aware that civilians could essentially facilitate military airstrikes. Can you explain to me how this works?”

The answer was again simple. “No,” replied Marx.

Marx runs a nonprofit Christian ministry called Anything is Possible, which claims to engage in dangerous work abroad. According to their website, the ministry says it helps “hunt predators, as well as rescue, restore and empower women and children held captive by traffickers and other abusers.”

In Marx’s disaster interview, Clark noted that Marx had previously claimed on his campaign website that his nonprofit had saved more than 45,000 women and children, but this was later removed.

“How many women and children did you save?” Clark asked.

“I would say it is more than one,” Marx replied, adding: “…and less than one.”

Marx Layer posted on Facebook that it welcomes Clark’s “difficult” questions. He also said that it was a “great” interview and that he thought he “ruined it”.
