While Donald Trump claimed that the ceasefire with Iran had ended, he announced that the USA accepted Iran’s claim to continue negotiations. This comes after the US and Iran exchanged new military strikes two days ago, marking a sharp escalation in tensions.
The United States launched military strikes on Iranian islands, ports and key infrastructure for two nights in a row after claiming Iran attacked three ships in the Bosphorus in violation of the terms of the interim peace deal. In response to the escalating situation, Qatari negotiators reportedly traveled to Iran in an urgent attempt to revive diplomatic talks and help ease tensions following two days of military action in the region.
Donald Trump said the ceasefire between the US and Iran was “over” after renewed attacks overnight. The US President told reporters at the NATO summit: “I don’t want to deal with them anymore, they are scum.” As far as I’m concerned, it’s all over. Dealing with them is just a waste of time, they are liars.” He added that negotiators on both sides “can talk” but are “wasting their time”.

In response, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps vowed “overwhelming” retaliation and announced that it had struck 85 US military installations in Bahrain and Kuwait, while condemning the American strikes as a violation of the ceasefire.
However, this is not the first time the US President has spoken about a ceasefire. Recently, he spoke to the reporters at the NATO summit in Ankara, and said the ceasefire between the US and Iran is “over” after renewed strikes overnight.

In a statement shared by Iranian state media, the ministry said the US military targeted “several monitoring and surveillance centers” along the southern coast.
