President Donald Trump on Sunday criticized Pope Leo XIV for the US-born pontiff’s criticism of the US war in Iran.
“He doesn’t want a Pope who criticizes the President of the United States because I’m doing exactly what I was elected to do, which is in a landslide,” the president said. Real Social mail
“Leo should be thankful because, as everyone knows, that was a shocking surprise,” Trump said. “He wasn’t on any list to be Pope and he was put there by the Church because he was American and they thought that would be the best way to deal with President Donald J. Trump.”
Leo, the first US-born pope, condemned Trump’s efforts to war with Iran.
