Trump calls on House Republicans to release Epstein files, in reversal from days of fighting proposal

Contrary to his previous position, US President Donald Trump called on House Republicans to vote to release the Epstein files.
“House Republicans should vote to release the Epstein files because we have nothing to hide,” Trump wrote on Truth Social Sunday night.
The shift, from days when Trump opposed the proposal, comes as the House is expected to vote this week on legislation that would force the Justice Department to make the files public.
Supporters of the proposal appear to have enough votes to pass the House of Representatives, but it is unclear whether the proposal will pass the Senate.
Democrats and some Republicans are pushing for a measure that would force the Justice Department to publicly release more documents related to the case.
Republican Rep. Thomas Massie, a co-sponsor of the bill, said in an interview with ABC News on Sunday that as many as 100 Republicans could vote in favor.
The purpose of the bill, known as the Epstein Files Transparency Act, is to ensure that the justice department releases all declassified records, documents, communications, and investigative materials connected to Jeffrey Epstein.
This is breaking news. More to follow soon.
