New Delhi: A German Condor flight of Düsseldorf made an emergency landing in Southern Italy after the emergency on another flight containing a Boeing plane after a bird strike of one of its engines.
Operating from Corfu (CFU) to Düsseldorf (DUS), Boeing 757-330 (Registration D-Abok) faced serious problems shortly after taking off on Saturday, August 16th. The plane was carrying 273 passengers at that time. The pilot headed to the Italian city Brindisi, where the plane landed safely.
According to the Greek news output Phileleftheros, the incident appeared at a height of approximately 1,500 feet. Witnesses on the island reported that he had heard a deaf noise as the plane passed through the harbor area, and some looked like an explosion. Natives and tourists caught video images showing sparks and flames firing from the engine.
The flight team immediately closed the affected engine to avoid damage, while Corfu Airport Emergency Services were placed in high warning.
Plan change: Disappinging to Brindisi
The first indications suggested that the aircraft could return to Corfu, but the captain chose to continue a single engine instead and reported that the situation was under control. Boeing climbed approximately 8,000 feet before returning to Northwest Italy.
The plane landed safely to Brindi Airport, where the emergency response teams were waiting. Hotel accommodation was provided to passengers, mostly German holidaymakers. The next day they were expected to continue their journey to Düsseldorf.
After the emergency landing, Condor Airways said, iz We apologize for any discomfort, but passenger safety is our greatest priority at any time, ”he said.
German publisher RTL reported that the flight to Düsseldorf is not possible to continue in a single engine, so it was a decision to land in Brindisi.
