Trump ‘doesn’t need Britain’s help’ to win Iran war

President Donald Trump said Britain was “seriously considering” sending two aircraft carriers to the Middle East, but added that the United States did not need them to win the war with Iran in the latest conflict between the military allies.
Trump has repeatedly criticized British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, arguing this week that he helped “ruin” historically close relations between the two countries after London blocked the United States from using British bases for the first time to attack Iran.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump said he would “remember” the lack of support from the UK during the conflict with Iran.
“The United Kingdom, once our greatest ally and perhaps our greatest, is seriously considering eventually sending two aircraft carriers to the Middle East,” Trump said.
“It’s okay, Prime Minister Starmer, we don’t need them anymore – But we’ll remember. We don’t need people joining the Wars after we’ve won!”
The post comes after Britain’s Ministry of Defense said on Saturday it was preparing the Prince of Wales aircraft carrier for possible deployment.
However, a British official said that no final decision has been made on whether the aircraft carrier will be deployed to the Middle East.
Starmer defended his decision not to allow US forces to use British bases to support initial strikes on Iran, saying he needed to ensure any military action was legal and well-planned.
He later gave US forces permission to use British bases for what he called defensive strikes against Iranian missiles in depots or launchers.
Starmer criticized Trump’s desire to buy Greenland in early 2026 and said his comments about European troops avoiding combat on the front lines of the war in Afghanistan were “frankly appalling”.
