Big Foot terrifies motorists in South Carolina
Drivers in South Carolina claim to have seen Bigfoot lurking near a church.
The witnesses, identified as Chris and Ethan, were driving on a rural road 11 miles northwest of the city of Spartanburg on May 31, 2026, when they saw a massive “bipedal” creature standing in the shadows near the highway and the entrance of an Evangelical church.
In a report to the Bigfoot Field Investigators Organization, Chris described the sighting as follows: “He was standing in the grassy strip between the parking lot and the road, near the south entrance of the car park. [church] …
“[We were] I head down highway 292 between Inman and Lyman South Carolina around 11:30pm. I was on top of a hill just before the Cooley Lake bridge when my lights hit a very large creature to my right.
“Bipedal, over 6 feet tall, close to 7 ft. Completely upright. When the lights hit it, it turned and quickly moved upright into the woods.”
“At first I thought it was a bear, but bears can’t move this liquid on two legs. It was too dark so I couldn’t make out any of its features. I stopped my car in the middle of the road and my passenger confirmed what I saw.”
An investigator with the Bigfoot Field Investigators Organization investigated the allegations, interviewed both witnesses twice, and posted the findings on the group’s website.
The investigator said: “They both observed what they described as a very large, dark figure on the side of the road. According to both witnesses, the figure immediately moved away from the road as their vehicles approached.
“The passenger (Ethan) described the figure as so large that his first thought was that it resembled ‘a horse standing on its hind legs’… He stated that the figure appeared very dark in color and appeared to be covered with hair.”
They added: “Driver Chris first saw the figure staring at the road, then moving away from the road and into woodland.
“His first impression was that it might be a huge black bear standing upright, but when he watched it move he quickly discounted that possibility.
“He described this figure as having a clearly human-like shape and estimated it to be over two meters tall, with an extraordinarily broad build. Both witnesses independently described the figure as extremely large and dark in colour…
“Both men noted that the figure’s movements were more human-like than animal-like. Ethan emphasized that its mannerisms and body movements were human-like.”
The researcher went to the area where the figure was seen but could not find any evidence. However, they stated that they did not find any broken branches or feces that could indicate the presence of bears.
They concluded: “The absence of physical evidence does not mean that witnesses did not observe anything unusual. It just means that no identifiable signs were found during the follow-up investigation a few days later. …
“Based on the interviews of both witnesses and my observations, I believe they were sincere in their descriptions of what they observed that evening. Neither appeared to be exaggerating the event, and both readily acknowledged how extraordinary their accounts were. Their statements remained consistent over many conversations and correspondence over several days.”
