Yvette Cooper confirms Gazan children heading to UK for NHS treatment | World | News

Yette Cooper was the first serious patient and the wounded Palestinian children’s group was released from Gaza and goes to England for NHS treatment. Foreign Minister said that young people left the devastated region and went to England where expert care will receive.
The transfer points to the beginning of a government program to remove critical patient children from the conflict zone. Before reaching Britain, patients are stabilized by medical teams in a neighboring country, which is a necessary step with the collapse of Gaza’s health system. The blockade, which lasted by the current war, could not cope with hospitals, thousands of children experienced long -term conditions and were discontinued from vital treatment.
The UK works with international partners to force transfers.
UNICEF estimates that more than 50,000 children have been killed or injured since Hamas’s attack on Israel on October 7, 2023 and the Israeli military reaction.
Mrs. Cooper said this Daily mirror: “We are trying to get wounded children from Gaza to help them in the United Kingdom. The first group of children is now separated from Gaza and is now traveling to England.”
He also confirmed that negotiations continue to help Palestinian students in places in British universities. He explained: “To help them leave Gaza and then to travel in other countries to reach the UK.
“But this work continues and I am determined to help these wounded families to help students to help students take their courses this autumn.”
The process requires the approval of Israel at every stage, and children may be accompanied by relatives when necessary. Biometric controls will be performed in a third country as part of the cleaning procedure.
The exact number of children in this first group has not been disclosed, but previous estimates were proposed between 30 and 50. This is the first official plan that brings Palestinian children to the UK, especially for NHS treatment.
Some young people were specially evacuated with the support of Pure Hope Project Pure Hope, a voluntary initiative of British medical officials. However, the current effort is the first coordinated, government -supported program.
Prime Minister Keir Starmer said that in July, Britain will help Gaza’s most vulnerable children and accept increasing public concern. In August, the ministers prepared a special plan to provide free NHS treatment for those released.
An external office source said: “DSÖ (World Health Organization) and critical patient and injured children will receive NHS treatment in the UK and are expected to come to England in the coming days.”
The authorities have not yet given the details of the next evacuation tour, but broader diplomatic efforts, including the cease -fire and Gaza, are continuing.
A government spokesman said: “As announced by the Prime Minister on July 25, Britain evacuates Ghazan children medically for treatment in England.
“This support emerges as the human situation continues to leave many people to medical care when they need emergency medical care, most hospitals in Gaza no longer function and basic medical materials end.
