Trump gloats as Iran’s tallest bridge destroyed in huge strike killing eight people | World | News

Iran’s largest bridge was hit in a US attack, with President Donald Trump boasting about the attack on social media. 8 people died and 95 people were injured after the attack, which took place a few hours after the US President threatened to send Iran “back to the Stone Age”.

He shared a photo of smoke rising from the B1 bridge in Karaj (about 20 miles southwest of Tehran), which connects the country’s two largest cities. He wrote: “Iran’s largest bridge is being demolished, never to be used again – There is still much to be done!

“IT IS TIME FOR IRAN TO MAKE A DEAL SOON AND THERE IS STILL NOTHING LEFT THAT COULD BE A GREAT COUNTRY!”

Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said: “Attacking civilian structures, including unfinished bridges, will not force the Iranians to surrender. It would only signify the defeat and moral collapse of an enemy in disarray.”

Iranian state television said there were two attacks on the bridge, with the second targeting emergency crews deployed to help victims of the first attack.

He said: “Our goals are clear: to eliminate Iran’s ability to threaten America and project its power beyond its borders. This means destroying its navy, paralyzing its air force and missile program, and eliminating its military-industrial base.”

“We have achieved all this. These actions will cripple the Iranian army, cut off support for terrorists, and prevent the development of nuclear weapons.

“Our armed forces performed with extraordinary skill and strength. Tonight, I can say that our key strategic objectives are nearing completion.”
