Donald Trump was ridiculed by ABC viewers after a two-hour White House meeting failed to make a definitive decision on a possible deal with Iran.

The 79-year-old president held discussions in the White House Situation Room on Friday, May 29, to consider ratifying an agreement to stop the conflict in Iran. After two hours of discussions, the session ended without any decision being reached.

ABC host Whit Johnson provided updates on the meeting, causing significant disappointment among viewers. Trump’s Situation Room meeting took place as US military forces launched new attacks around the Strait of Hormuz.

“President Trump has been weighing up his decision on a deal with Iran tonight, meeting with advisers in the Situation Room for two hours, but there is still no final decision and there is a key sticking point that Trump says should be part of the deal,” Johnson told viewers.

ABC’s chief White House correspondent Mary Bruce later provided more information: “President Trump met with his national security team in the Situation Room for more than two hours today to make what was quoted as a ‘final decision’ on a possible agreement to extend the ceasefire with Iran and reopen the Strait of Hormuz.”

He added: “But tonight Trump is still not announcing any decision. The president has previously laid out his demands, saying Iran must agree to reopen the critical waterway, promise never to develop nuclear weapons and that the US must allow Iran to mine its highly enriched uranium.”

“But Iran says its nuclear program, the key issue at the center of this conflict, is not part of these negotiations. Iran also insists that the United States release $12 billion in frozen Iranian assets.”

However, Trump emphasized that “there will be no exchange of money” until further notice. An Iranian spokesman confirmed that “message exchanges are continuing, but no final agreement has been reached.”

Reporting from the White House, Bruce observed: “We are now 13 weeks into this conflict; Americans are feeling the economic collapse. This war has cost the average American household an extra $450 in gas and energy, according to a new analysis, and tonight these talks continue with no clear outcome in sight.”

A clip from the broadcast was posted on Instagram with the caption: “President Trump met for hours in the Situation Room with his national security team to make a “final decision” on a possible agreement to extend the ceasefire with Iran and reopen the Strait of Hormuz, but no decision was announced. @MaryKBruce reporting.”

Viewers made harsh criticisms of Trump in the Instagram comments section. “90 minutes of this was probably naps and diaper changes,” one commenter wrote, while another responded with three laughing crying emojis.

“The only thing that weighs in is Donny’s trouser load,” a third person commented. Another viewer commented: “He probably has no idea what’s going on,” accompanied by three clown emojis.

“He probably fell asleep and forgot what he was doing,” one observer said, while an exasperated ABC viewer complained, “This was the longest two weeks ever.”

Another Trump critic added: “I hope the status conference doesn’t turn into a sitcom as usual with Trump meetings!”
