Donald Trump reportedly instructed the Pentagon to prepare plans to attack Cuba after his Iran strategy descended into chaos.

Senior administration officials are warning the President that Cuba is becoming a growing national security threat due to its ties to Russia, China and Iran.

According to the bombshell Politico report, “Trump is increasingly likely to attack Cuba” and the U.S. Southern Command has “convened a pipeline of planning” in recent weeks.

“The mood has definitely changed,” said the person familiar with the discussions.

“The initial idea on Cuba was that leadership was weak and that the combination of increased sanctions, essentially an oil blockade, and clear US military victories in Venezuela and Iran would scare the Cubans into agreeing.

“Iran has now moved sideways and the Cubans have proven to be much stronger than originally thought. So military action is now on the table like never before.”

Trump himself has repeatedly hinted that Cuba could be the next step.

Speaking earlier this year, the President warned that the Cuban regime would “fall” due to American pressure.

“We’ll cut off all the oil, we’ll cut off all the money, or we’ll cut off everything coming from Venezuela,” Trump said. “They want to make a deal”

He added: “This is one of the little ones for me.”

The White House has not publicly confirmed military plans, but reports indicate officials are discussing a range of options including naval blockades, drone strikes and operations targeting Cuban military infrastructure.

The renewed focus on Cuba comes after Trump’s aggressive Iran strategy triggered an international backlash, rising oil prices and growing concerns among Republicans about the risk of a broader war.

Analysts believe the administration may now view Cuba as an easier target politically because of its proximity to the United States and longstanding hostility among segments of the Cuban-American community in Florida.

Tensions erupted this week after US intelligence reports claimed Cuba had purchased more than 300 military drones from Russia and Iran since 2023.

According to Axios, American officials are monitoring alleged discussions within the Cuban military about possible attacks on Guantanamo Bay and even Key West, Florida.

Havana angrily denied the accusations.

Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel warned that any American attack would trigger a “bloodbath” and devastate regional stability.

Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla accused Washington of manufacturing a crisis to justify intervention and said the United States was producing “fraudulent” claims designed to pave the way for military aggression.

More than 30 Democratic lawmakers, meanwhile, called on Trump to reject military intervention altogether, warning that increased rhetoric could lead to a humanitarian disaster in the Caribbean.
